Student Global Health Policy

Effective May 30, 2017 the Office of Global Health will require all UAMS students participating in educational activities located in international or rural settings which receive academic credit, or to meet academic or graduation requirements are required to register with the Office of Global Health.

This does not include if a student is going to rural Arkansas on a clinical rotation for a particular degree program. The goal of the policy is to capture data on experiential opportunities — international or domestic — where the educational activities are focused on population health, social determinants of health, or undeserved/under-resourced populations and communities.

The intent of this new policy is to improve the coordination of global health activities, including education, clinical training and research, across University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). The information students provide is used for communication purposes in an international or personal crisis situation. To read the full policy on Student Global Health Project Registration, click here.
